ONLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD---Hebrews 2:7-13

Introduction: What is the moving cause of all the kindness God shows to men in giving Christ for them and to them? it is the grace of God.

THE GRACE OF GOD…

Psalms 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

II Cor  9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

I Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

ONLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD…

I.                   MAY WE ESCAPE THE BONDAGE OF SIN (Ezra 9:8 And now for a little space grace hath been showed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.)

II.                MAY WE EXPERIENCE GROWTH IN THE CHURCH

(Acts 11:22 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the

church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas,

that he should go as far as Antioch. 23 Who, when he came, and

had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that

with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. 24 For he

was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much

people was added unto the Lord.)

III.             MAY WE ENTER THE MISSION FIELD (Acts 15:40 And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God. 41 And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.)

IV.              MAY WE END OUR COURSE WITH JOY (Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.)

V.                 MAY WE ENJOY PEACE WITH THE LORD JESUS CHRIST (Rom 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.)

VI.              MAY EVERY MAN THINK SOBERLY (Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.)

VII.           MAY WE ENDEAVOR TO WORK TOGETHER WITH GOD

(I Cor 3:9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are

God's husbandry, ye are God's building. 10 According to the grace

of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid

the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man

take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can

no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.)

VIII.        MAY WE EXIST AS WHO WE ARE (I Cor 15:9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.)

IX.               MAY WE EXEMPLIFY THE POWER OF GOD (Eph 3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. 8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: 12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. 13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.)

X.                 MAY WE EVER HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO BE SAVED

·         II Cor 6:1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

·         Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

·         Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
